Preface

On 11th September, 2001, tragedy struck the WTC, New York, USA. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims. Before the dust settled down, suddenly, Islam and the Muslims became the scapegoats. Prejudices towards the Muslims reigned high in the hearts of many. Justice became toys juggled in the hands of the powerful. This scenario motivated me to write this simple booklet to shed some light on the real Islam.

Our real enemy, actually, is ignorance. If it is given a chance to grow, it can bloom into arrogance. Arrogance can be disastrous for mankind. Satan was cursed by God because of arrogance. The antidotes that we need today are knowledge, understanding and piety. I hope this simple booklet can help in increasing our knowledge and thus promote a better understanding of Islam. This endeavour of mine is nothing big, nevertheless, I sincerely hope it is enough to quench the thirst of those who strive to seek for the truth.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Danial bin Zainal Abidin originated from Sungai Ara, Pulau Pinang and graduated with a M.B.Ch.B degree in medicine, from University of Alexandria, Egypt. While pursuing his degree, he used the opportunity to study Arabic and Islam from scholars of Al-Azhar University. He graduated in 1981. He is now a general practitioner at Klinik Syifa in Glugor, Pulau Pinang. Besides that, he is also a motivator, religious teacher, author of two books, namely, ‘Konsep Perubatan Islam’ and ‘Empayar Minda Muslim,’ and currently, Managing Director of Danial Zainal Consultancy (M) Sdn. Bhd. From 1993 to 2000, he was with Radio Malaysia Pulau Pinang (then known as Radio 3), giving motivation and counselling through slots like ‘Rangsang Minda’ (Mind Motivation) and ‘Dimensi Pakar’ (Specialist Dimension). In 1995, he was invited twice by TV3 to be a panel in the then famous programme ‘Cermin Diri.’ In the society, he was the Chairman of the Sungai Ara Mosque from 1996 to 2000.

Currently, he is focussing in the field of research especially in subjects which are related to comparative religion, religious motivation, Quran and science and contemporary approach towards dakwah or Islamic propagation.
